Lauro de Sica is the former Handler of cyborg Elsa de Sica. Although only depicted after his death in the manga portion of the series, Season One of the anime dedicates an original episode (featuring content not found in the manga) where both he and Elsa are alive, performing their last few missions as a Fratello prior to both of their demises.

Lauro is a casual-acting handler who demands much from Elsa while providing little incentive for her obedience or continued performance. This bodes poorly, especially as time goes on and his charge nevertheless begins to develop strong, almost obsessive feelings for him, similar to the Hillshire-Triela fratello, only without reciprocation.

In the Season One episode Lycoris Radiata Herb (Be Struck off Herb), Lauro expresses strong disagreements with Jose Croce's loving and inclusive approach for his cyborg Henrietta, and almost goes to derisively question whether more sinister undercurrents exist between the two. He then relents a little and shows interest in trying to understand their dynamic, briefly paraphrasing President Kennedy's quote "So, let us not be blind to our differences - but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved."

Unfortunately, his fate is already sealed, as Elsa's longsuffering has reached it's end. She later commits a murder-suicide, killing both Lauro and herself, although this truth isn't revealed until two episodes later, in Febbre Alta (High Fever).
