Libera Italia (a.k.a. Free Italy, in English) is a real world media conglomorate that has sometimes been featured, or mentioned briefly, in the Gunslinger Girl saga. Most famously, Jose Croce posed as a reporter for Libera Italia in the first episode of the anime (season one), while attempting to determine if a Padania mark was present in an apartment complex suspected of being used as an elaborate safehouse.
Libero Italia operates a newspaper and internet service provider (ISP), as well as a mobile phone service. It is part of the Wind media network.
